Empire Tug
About the model
This pretty model provides lots of scope as it was launched in naval service and had a second life in civilian service (see history below). The only problem will be choosing which one to model – you may have to do both!
Classic tug lines means this is a fine performer on the water, and of course superb for static display.
Prototype history (click)
Built during July 1942 at the Goole Shipbuilding and Repair Company as one of the Warrior Class. Subsequently sold in May 1946 to the Clyde Shipping Company Ltd. of Glasgow, and renamed the Flying Tempest, where she served for sixteen years before being sold to an Italian company, and eventually scrapped in 1986.
Either model, Admiralty or Civilian can be built from the same kit, the only difference being in the wheelhouse and the colour scheme.
